THE ASSOCIATION: A FUTURE PROJECT |
|
WOMEN WHO BUILD was developed as an association of professionals connected to habitat design. On February 21st 2002 Women Who Build was registered in the National Register Association of Madrid as a non-profit Organization.
The development of this Organization has helped to enforce the work completed by members of WOMEN WHO BUILD forum since 1995. The current situation of individuals in the profession of architecture in Spain and all over the world have come across difficult times, for this reason we think it is important to develop collective projects, that stem away from individualism and competitiveness that is so present in our daily life.
We are living in a time where women have begun to gain entry into all kinds of professions, creating new waves of opinions and sparking interests due to their singularity. The need to introduce new perspectives in respect to the design of architecture and inhabited places, is a topic that has been treated with great interest in Institutional and Social fields in all European Countries and has opened doors of opportunity to women architects, women urban planners and all those involved in the world of construction, into a field of investigation that possesses great possibilities. The speed in which society is evolving is not parallel to the existing model of spaces where life happens. Great contradictions appear when the intention is to solve the actual human necessities.
Women Who Build forum was created as a tool for the investigation and development of new proposals, endorsed by the experience of architects and professionals of spaces to be built.
It is set up as an open virtual network, with the objective to create a new way of thinking, based on contribution as opposed to comparison, a solidary platform, in which architecture is understood as a means of connecting people actively involved and interested in the construction of a new society, the society in which we are living YEAR 2010 - Exhibition."Building from the Inside", Town hall (Tres Cantos Madrid-Mar. 10) - Participation in the Day " Another House is Possible" (Madrid, May 010)
