Medialab-Prado is a space-oriented production, research and dissemination of digital culture and the area of confluence between art, science, technology and society.

In the space of production workshops are held and training, seminars and debates, meetings of various working groups, sample projects, and concerts.  All activities are free and open to everyone.

The main objective is to create a structure in which both research and production processes are permeable to user involvement.  This offers:

- A permanent space for information, reception and meeting attended by cultural mediators.

- Open calls for proposals and participation in collaborative development projects.

The Residence of Young Ladies Roll in Madrid at the beguining of XXth Century

“Ortega & Gasset Foundation” is the nowadays depository of the historical and documental legate of the Young Ladies Residence of Madrid. The purpose of this initiative is to expose and debate with deepness questions –until now unknown- of the roll played by this organism which contributed, at the beginning of XX th Century, to the integral formation of women and to their intellectual and artistic development.

Its been two years since female architect, freelance artist and Bauhaus University proffessor, Heike Hanada won first prize (for a very recognized contest) for her plans to extend the Stockholm Public Library, build by Erik Gunnar Asplund between 1920 and 1928. A project that has initially recieved 1,160 proposals. The decision to cancel the project has generated much criticism in the architecture world. Many have opposed the project under the grounds that the original building should not be altered or manipulated in any manner. Annika Jensfelt, an editor for the Swed Association for Architecture magazine stated “ politicans declare that it is too clear. This was the official reason. But there is a debate as to whether this is the real reason. The society of culture feels it does not pay homage to the original structure, therefore, perhaps this can be viewed as the real reason.
