CITY AND ENVIRONMENT: A PLACE TO LIVE IN, COURSE.

Faculty of Politics and Sociology. Granada University.
28th June to 2nd July, 2004.

We are living in the age of madness

“Those urgent things”, as Heidegger stated,” don’t let us see the essential”.

We propose this Summer Course with two basic ideas:

1) THE MASSIVE INCORPORATION OF WOMEN TO LABOR LIFE AND TO THE PUBLIC SPHERE during the last years, implies radical changes in the conception of daily life all over the world. The cities and spaces in which we are living aren’t still prepared to assume those huge changes.

2) THE SECOND IDEA IS TO COLLECTIVELY UNDERSTANDTHAT PLACES THAT SHAPE CITIES CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD AS MERELY RESIDUARY REDOUBTS, but meeting places for human beings with themselves, with others and with the environment in which they live, expression of people´s culture and representation of a certain society aspirations.
