CITY AND ENVIRONMENT: A PLACE TO LIVE IN, WORKSHOP

Faculty of Politics and Sociology. University of Granada.
28th June to July 2nd, 2004.

We are living in the age of madness

“Those urgent things”, as Heidegger stated,” don’t let us see what is essential”.

This Summer Course was proposed on the basis of two basic ideas:

1) THE MASSIVE INCORPORATION OF WOMEN IN THE WORKFORCE AND IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE during the past years, have surcome radical changes that have occured in the daily conception of life all over the world. The cities and spaces in which we are living in aren’t prepared to assume these huge changes.

2) THE SECOND IDEA IS TO COLLECTIVELY UNDERSTAND THAT PLACES THAT SHAPE CITIES CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD AS MERELY RESIDUARY REDOUBTS, but meeting places for human beings with themselves, with others and with the environment in which they live, an expression of one´s culture and a representation of a certain societies aspirations.
