Huerto de los Leones. 1st prize

The presentation of the selected projects and the winners of the Competition for Women Architects from the Mediterranean Shores and the European Community, was the  principal aim of this Spring Act.

THE SITE: "Huerto de los Leones",  a square in the historical city of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). City that was been recently declared  of Humanity Heritage by UNESCO.

ORGANIZED BY: UNESCO (Paris), Women General Direction of Madrid Community and Alcalá City Council.

THE IDEA: To reinforce the participation of women designs, constructions and management of the city. As Wassyla Tamzali ( ex-Manageress of the Programme "UNESCO Mediterranean Women") says: "We have chosen the beautifull name of “La Plaza” because it appoints an emblematic place of the city, where the politic, cultural and social powers were assembled. We have chosen"Peace" because we think that a good city desing contributes to its own opening and harmonizes life among citizens, independently of their own social class, culture or sex."
