In a world happily sentenced to communication and understanding, we think it very necessary to lay down networks between similar viewpoints, to look for what joins us together and not what separates us. For this reason we have turned our attention towards this magical place whose very rocks show that we all belong to a same spiritual landscape, our eyes turning towards the Mediterranean Sea.
We think that understanding of gender as a cultural, collective and solidary link between women can be, at this time and on an international scale, an excellent means of communication between different worlds.
The creation of a politically, economically and socially European-Mediterranean space must be accompanied by some strong cultural relations between the countries in the surrounding area, because we believe that culture can play an integrating role among countries that are very close spatially, but sometimes very distant in time.
Belonging to a common space, women, and construction of the habitat are three topics which, interlinked, make an attractive starting point to launch a call to our colleagues from the other side of the water, to transmit to them our intention of getting to know each other and give each other mutual support, in our wish to take part in the construction of a more open and tolerant world.
We would like our presentation of the exhibition in Lebanon, to turn into a launch platform of a cultural network of women architects and profesional women linked to the creation and management of spaces, in such a way that the echo of a new voice starts to be heard.
For all these reasons we believe it is very important for Lebanese women architects to take part in our projects with the exhibition BUILDING FROM THE INSIDE, in order that our "imaginary journey through the poetry of built spaces" has its first Mediterranean port of call in Beirut.
